Charlie McCarty, who began his career as a photographer while serving in the U.S. army during World War Two, died January 19, 2004, at the age of 88. McCarty was one of the founders of the Reuters News Picture Service in 1984, and worked for Acme Pictures and United Press International during his 52-year career.
